Open Baalgeet & Baalvarta Spardha

In an age of cartoons and mobile games, children’s songs and stories are quietly fading away. To keep this priceless tradition alive, Shree Sailaxmi Foundation, in collaboration with the Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Natak Academy, organised a 15-day open competition that brought together over 1,750 participants to perform traditional baalgeet and baalvarta.

Held on the birth anniversary of education pioneer Gijubhai Badheka, the event celebrated his belief that children learn best when they learn with joy. The festival featured performances and insights from Sairam Dave, Dr. Nalin Pandit, Jigneshgiri Gausvami, Osman Mir, Gargi Vora, and Jayesh Dave, making it a vibrant tribute to Gujarat’s storytelling and musical heritage.
